About the company
Holektiv is a recognised creative collective led by Andrea Vykysalá, Karolína Křížková, and Eva Stará, bringing together other prominent artists working primarily in physical theatre, dance, and contemporary circus, as well as in music, visual arts, and design. The company’s dramaturgy is built on a complex and thoughtful selection of current societal themes, which we present to audiences through a specific poetics and a touch of irony, in a form that is clear, accessible, and engaging.
We work with adult, youth, and children audiences, selected pieces from our repertoire are also performed in school enviroments. The dramaturgy of the company is founded on a long-term interest in and belief in the artistic and social value that live art brings. We place emphasis on sustainability, continuity, diversity, and accessibility. Our aim is to cultivate empathy, curiosity about the world, and sensitivity in our audiences through original artistic work.
For nine years, we have been presenting our work regularly at major Czech contemporary circus and theatre festivals. Holektiv was the only Czech representative selected for the prestigious European programme RoundAbout Europe for 2020/2021. The company’s works have been presented at numerous international festivals, including in Armenia, Bulgaria, Greece, Germany, Russia, Italy, Poland, Japan, and more. Holektiv is also regularly invited to collaborate with other ensembles and theatres such as the South Bohemian Theatre, the National Theatre, Bratři v tricku, and Divadlo Bratří Formanů, among others.
