Abstract

We present the main projects of the Pieds Perchés collective:

The three-part circus site-specific storytelling project ŠRÁMY (SCARS), which explores the visible and invisible marks that certain historical events may have left on our bodies.

The site-specific walk LINK, combining physical theatre, slackline acrobatics, and live music.

The site-specific project PHILIA, featuring six performers on a high-suspended rope and exploring themes of coping with death and the fear of emptiness.

Information about the Company

Cie Pieds Perchés is a Czech–Swiss contemporary circus collective operating between the Czech Republic, Switzerland, and France. They combine circus, physical theatre, and visual art to create stimulating performances accessible to all audiences.

The collective was founded in 2009 by two Swiss artists, Morgane Widmer and Stéphanie N’Duhirahe. Stéphanie graduated from the Geneva University of Art and Design (HEAD, formerly ESBA) and the Circus School of Quebec (ECQ), while Morgane received her professional training at E.S.A.C (École Supérieure des Arts du Cirque in Brussels).

The company focuses on the technique of the aerial rope and its innovative use.

Slovak musician Roman Džáčár joined Cie Pieds Perchés in 2016, enriching their performances with live music created and adapted specifically for each project. This approach has led the collective to develop primarily site-specific productions, using the location and the history of the space as the primary source of inspiration for their creation. Through a wide range of site-specific interventions, Stéphanie and Morgane strive to bring circus art into unconventional spaces. Many of their performances (Foutaise, 2010; Le poids du vide, 2013/2016; Vejce vejci, 2015; Mute, 2016; Mezi Řeči, 2018; OK(N)o, 2020; LINK, 2022; Šrámy_la débattue, 2023; Šrámy_děti z bakelitu and Carcasse, 2024) have been presented internationally.
